Here's a little surprise painting - I created this for my girlfriend Alice's birthday. I would be dropping her off at work or home in the car, and we'd pass through a little village with an ancient tree, and the tree was a twisted, gnarled and wise old thing. It also reminded me of Tolkein's symbol of hope and freedom, the White Tree of Gondor, and there's something very magical about that, so I stopped one day and took some photos. As a gift, I painted the tree with a dark, starry night, so here it is. I must say, I wish I'd have painted the tree a little smaller, but overall, am happy with the simplicity of it. Once again, even with a new digicam, I need a lot of work on photography skills!
